Update

Bungie has since spotted this unfortunate story, and posted this on Bungie.net:

Please be careful out there, kids. Bungie has some ideas for how we can make regrettable deletions like these less permanent. While we plan the right course of action (and build out new game features), protect your Guardians from sleazy online jerks - or dogs that step on your controller.

Original

It's the digital equivalent of going into someone's room and wrecking their belongings, and it's also a reminder that you shouldn't share your personal details and/or online profile with anyone that you don't trust.

One young gamer has learned the lesson the hard way, when a fellow Destiny player has, via Shareplay, deleted two of his high-level characters and an exotic weapon.

During a livestream the young Destiny fan shared his profile via the PlayStation 4's shareplay feature (where you can control a different profile remotely) so the second player could show how off an exploit on how to level up quickly.

However, as soon as the second player, KirmitTHEfrog, took control of the profile, he quickly deleted a level 31 and a level 26 character before it was clear what was happening. Anyone who has played Destiny will appreciate just how much time went into building those characters.

You can watch it happen over on YouTube and see it for yourselves. Thanks, NeoGaf.
