It has been long-rumoured, but now publisher Future has officially confirmed that computerandvideogames.com will close down. For those of us that have been visitors to the site, or who used to read the magazine back in the years of our youth, it's a sad day indeed.

CVG started as a magazine back in 1981, and it's the longest running specialist gaming publication in the world. The magazine closed down in 2004, while the website as it is today started in 1999 under the stewardship of then editor-in-chief Paul Davies, but is now set to shut its digital doors in February of next year.

When the site closes some content will migrate to GamesRadar+, although none of the current writers from the site are making the transition across. For a nostalgic trip back through the history of the world's oldest gaming publication, head this way.
