It's one of those happy problems, when your product is so popular that you're struggling to keep up with demand, but it sounds like that's exactly what Sony is dealing with right now.

"If I look at Europe I think it is potentially, for the second year running, going to be quite inventory challenged," SCE CEO Andrew House told Reuters.

While House didn't go into details, he did say that they were doing their best to step up their production and logistical operation so as to keep up with the demand.

"I'm not going to say you won't be able to find a PlayStation 4," he said. "I think it's going to be kind of hand to mouth in terms of that market."

House also said that while December sales were as expected, conditions in November had been "tougher" after some big price cuts from Microsoft (around Black Friday). He also explained that the Japanese market was "challenged" as more games are played on mobile devices than on consoles.
