It won't be much of surprise to most of you to hear that Assassin's Creed creator Patrice Désilets' next project will be a "third-person historical-action-survival game."

The developer, who left Ubisoft for the second time earlier this year, has since established Panache Digital Games, a Montréal-based studio that will be focused on delivering blockbuster games.

"AAA Games, I believe in them," Désilets explained. "I believe wholeheartedly that this medium we call 'video games' can be a positive force for change in our society and that AAA quality gaming experiences have unmatched strength to achieve this."

"For you see, dear friends, I've always had an underlying ambition in my work: to move the world of games. It is with this motivation that I designed Assassin's Creed. I believe that, somehow, I succeeded in my mission. This gives me great motivation, ambition and heart to continue the adventure."

Désilets doesn't give anything away regarding the setting of this new game, but he did say in the first newsletter sent out to supporters that those who showed their support early would be given a "a full copy of our next game."

"Let's call it a free to play game that's not a 'free-to-play' game. You have taken the time out of your busy schedules to give us your email contact info, to join us and become our first community. Again, simply out of trust, out of love for what we've done in the past. We continue to be deeply touched by the gesture."

What this game is, and whether we're talking about the same game detailed above, remains a little unclear. Guess we'll just have to wait and see on this one.

Given his background, it certainly makes sense that the developer would return to the grounds that have proved so fertile for him in the past. Whether this new project/s will have much in common we 1666, the game he started at THQ before Ubisoft bought the IP and removed him from the project, remains to be seen.
