Evolution Studios are waiting for improved server performance before releasing the free PS Plus edition of their racer, Driveclub. Responding to a fan's question on Facebook, Evolution said this of the yet-to-arrive free version of the game:
"It is coming as soon as we are able to improve server performance so that it can support the many, many PS+ players. We will have news for you on this soon."
The PS Plus edition of Driveclub was supposed to release alongside the retail version of the game in October, but some serious network issues affected the launch of the base game and the PS Plus version was subsequently held back.
This news follows a similar update earlier this week from PlayStation UK chief Fergal Gara, who expressed to IGN his disappointment regarding the troubled launch of the game.
"When you lay your soul out as being '4ThePlayers', then what you certainly don't want is games that are not fully ready. It certainly wasn't any ill-intention on behalf of the team. It's ambitious as a game; they're as embarrassed as we are and all you can do in those situations is say sorry.
"We apologise to any players affected and are doing our damnedest to make things right. So that's what we've been doing and the game is pretty near-complete now. We don't want to introduce the PS Plus Edition until we're confident the servers can take the load."
