More than a year after its original release (but just a couple of weeks after its next-gen debut) Australian retailers Target and Kmart have decided to pull Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto V from its shelves.
Target's GM of corporate affairs Jim Cooper said:
"We've been speaking to many customers over recent days about the game, and there is a significant level of concern about the game's content."
"We've also had customer feedback in support of us selling the game, and we respect their perspective on the issue. However, we feel the decision to stop selling GTA5 is in line with the majority view of our customers."
Target was first, but Kmart soon followed suit as reported by Kotaku Australia, and they peg decision as being made after a 41,000 signee strong petition to remove GTAV from store shelves surfaced. Target and Kmart share the same owners.
