Every now and then developers leave little secrets in their games to help them identify people who have pirated their games. We're not sure if this was the intention from the get go this time, or simply a case of a feature not being ready in time for mass production, but the FOV settings (field of view) in the PC version of Far Cry 4 are added in a day one patch.
This patch however, is naturally not distributed to people who have pirated the game (uploaders might take a stab at it now that the cat is out of the bag though) and as such they don't have the FOV settings.
One might think the fact that you haven't bought the game would keep people for protesting and complaining about this, but the reality quickly proved to be different. Shortly after the game launched the developers were bombarded by angry players complaining that the FOV settings were missing, prompting Creative director Alex Hutchinson to share the following message on Twitter:
"PC players! If you're online complaining about the lack of FOV control ... You pirated the game."
So turns out there's an easy fix. Buy the game.
