Just a couple of weeks removed from the release of what is likely the most high profile game in studio history (Little Big Planet 3), Sumo Digital, have announced that they have reached deal with owners Foundation 9 where management (with the aid of NorthEdge Capital) have bought the owners out and regained their independence.

"With the imminent release of LittleBigPlanet 3 and a number of exciting projects under development, the business is in an extremely strong position," said Sumo Digital CEO Carl Cavers.

"We are delighted to have completed the MBO and to be partnering with NorthEdge as we accelerate our growth strategy and cement our position as one of Europe's leading game developers."

Sumo Digital have risen to become one of the most prolific game developers in the world. Over the years they have worked on OutRun 2, Virtua Tennis 2009, Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, Xbox Fitness and most recently the Xbox 360-version of Forza Horizon 2.

Thanks, Develop.
