Bethesda has just confirmed The Elder Scrolls Online, with Game Informer going live with the first art and details tease on its June issue.

The much-rumoured Bethesda MMO take on the popular fantasy series has been in development for some years by Zenimax Online Studios and headed by Matt Firor, the game's set a millennium before the events of Skyrim, tracking "daedric prince Molag Bal as he tries to pull Tamriel into his demonic realm" according to Game Informer.

The game includes solo quests, public dungeons and PvP revolving around three player factions battling it out for dominion in Cyrodiil.

"We have been working hard to create an online world in which players will be able to experience the epic Elder Scrolls universe with their friends, something fans have long said they wanted," said Matt Firor, game director of The Elder Scrolls Online. "It will be extremely rewarding finally to unveil what we have been developing the last several years. The entire team is committed to creating the best MMO ever made - and one that is worthy of The Elder Scrolls franchise."

The Elder Scrolls: Online is due out on PC and Mac in 2013, and be available in english, German and French languages.
