It's baby steps, and it's happening too slowly, but it seems that we're finally is starting to take a stand against Internet trolls, something we sadly enough have more than our fair share of in the world gaming.

The BBC reports that the British government are changing their approach to the way that they deal with those that hide behind their keyboards, by quadrupling prison sentences for extreme cases of Internet trolling, with offenders now possibly facing up to two years behind bars.

Justice Secretary Chris Grayling said: "These internet trolls are cowards who are poisoning our national life. No-one would permit such venom in person, so there should be no place for it on social media. That is why we are determined to quadruple the current six-month sentence.

"This is a law to combat cruelty - and marks our determination to take a stand against a baying cyber-mob. We must send out a clear message: If you troll you risk being behind bars for two years."

The planned changes have come about following some extreme recent examples of unacceptable online behaviour, the latest case being threats made to model Chloe Madeley on Twitter.
