We talked with a confident Maciej Binkowski who explained to us how Dying Light was going to change the first-person shooter genre forever more.

"The thing that we're most proud of is... unprecedented freedom of movement. Pretty much everything that you see you can just grab your hands on, you can get on top of it. So I really hope that the stuff that we have here, the freedom that we're giving to the players; it's going to change the FPS genre."

"I know it's a bold statement, I know it is, but look back," he explained. "You had Wolfenstein, no jumping, just walking and shooting, that's it. Then a couple of years later and everyone does jumping and if you don't have jump in your game, you're lame, your game sucks."

"We see players playing our game for a couple of hours and then they talk to us like: "hey, you know what, I played Dying Light for a couple of hours. I go back to a regular FPS game and I feel so constrained. It feels ridiculous that I can't do this stuff.""

"So I would hope that if this is going to be the next step in the evolution, and in coming years this level of freedom is going to be like a basic thing expected from FPS games," he concluded.

You can read our impressions of Dying Light here, and the game is set to launch on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC on January 30.
