An official website has gone live, confirming Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 ahead of Activision and Treyarch's impending worldwide announcement.

The official website also confirmed that the game is set to be released on November 13, 2012, and links to a (currently unplayable) Worldwide Reveal trailer - that's expected to change once the trailer airs in the US later today.

It's fair to say that so far the existence of Black Ops 2 has not been the best kept secret, but this confirmation means Call of Duty fans can now rest assured that another chapter in the record-breaking series is on its way.

Rumours started after Activision acquired the rights to the domain name for Black Ops 2 back in January. This was then followed up by a controversial incident involving French website Gameblog.fr. The site stumbled upon a listing for the game on Amazon, and had a public argument with Activision following their refusal to withdraw their coverage.

A leaked poster told us the date of the announcement, and the website has now also preceded the big reveal.

Last week a trailer hinted at a futuristic setting. The trailer included a technologically advance Quadrotor, images of which can be found on the official site. It would appear that Treyarch did indeed opt for a near-future setting for Black Ops 2.

REVIEW. Written by Mathias Holmberg

"It's made up of some of the most boring missions in the history of the franchise...at times this feels like a pastiche - a parody."
