Our German editor Martin Eiser caught up with two of the main contributors to the soon to be released Dreamfall Chapters (at least the first episode that is) creative director Ragnar Tørnquist and writer Dag Scheve.

"I think the time is right, right now to do it," says Tørnquist. "When The Longest Journey came out in 2000 in most of the world adventures were pretty much dead. And when we made Dreamfall in 2006 it was sort of, adventures had been dormant for a long time so we tried something a little bit different to The Longest Journey. I think in many ways people appreciated it, but it didn't really find the massive audience that we might have been hoping for. But I think things have changed now. People are more willing to take in a good story. They're not too worried about having action gameplay, or combat, or stealth. They don't need that. They just need a good story, a good interface, and a way to just sit down and enjoy the worlds and enjoy the story so I think that the market and the world is ready for that."

The first episode (Book One) of Dreamfall Chapters is due out on Steam on October 21 with a PlayStation 4 version to follow later. Further versions (like Xbox One and Wii U) are being considering, the former depending on whether Microsoft will allow for a later release on Xbox One (compared to PS4).

REVIEW. Written by Leevi Rantala

"Despite the technical side faltering a bit, it's an entertaining package of storytelling and puzzle solving."
