Blizzard has just confirmed that they've cancelled Titan, an MMO that the studio has been developing for seven years.

"We had created World of Warcraft, and we felt really confident that we knew how to make MMOs," Blizzard co-founder and CEO, Michael Morhaime, told Polygon. "So we set out to make the most ambitious thing that you could possibly imagine. And it didn't come together.

"We didn't find the fun. We didn't find the passion. We talked about how we put it through a reevaluation period, and actually, what we reevaluated is whether that's the game we really wanted to be making. The answer is no."

Chris Metzen, Blizzard's senior vice president of story and franchise development, added: "The discipline of knowing when to quit is important. We were losing perspective and getting lost in the weeds a little. We had to allow ourselves to take that step back and reassess why the hell we were doing that thing in the first place."

Confirmation of the project's cancellation comes after the studio last year said that they were talking it in another direction. Although the studio never officially announced the project, it was one that was discussed openly during its now aborted development process.

Few details were made public, and strangely, now it has been cancelled, perhaps we'll actually find out more about it.

The decision leaves the studio with World of Warcraft as their remaining interest in the MMO market, although the studio has confirmed that they'll be releasing more content more often for their fantasy-themed offering looking forward.
