Last week Nick Schaedel started a petition to include a Robin Williams tribute in a future Zelda game. The actor was a big fan of the Zelda series, and even named his daughter Zelda. Nintendo responded to the petition Saturday, but they would neither confirm nor deny if they will pay tribute to Williams by naming a non-playable character after the actor.

"Robin Williams was loved at Nintendo. Our hearts go out to his entire family, and especially to Zelda Williams who we've worked with multiple times. We appreciate the outpouring of support from the gaming community, and hear the request of fans to honor him in a future game. We will not be discussing what might be possible for future games during this difficult time, but we will hold our memories of Robin close."

Schaedel points out that this petition has never been about forcing Nintendo to give into pressure, but instead it's been about changing media's focus from the tragic circumstances around his death to something positive.
