Sony Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida has only gone an poured cold water all over our hopes that we might finally get to see something, anything, of The Last Guardian. In a recent interview the Sony chief apologised because the game will not be shown at Tokyo Game Show, just as it wasn't shown this week at Gamescom.

"When we are ready," he said after his TGS-related apology. "I cannot confirm any timing because we are waiting for it to be in a state where we are happy that this is the game. We have a certain time frame in our mind, and the team is making great progress, but still not to the point that we can say that, here you go."

But why is it taking so bloody long, that's what we want to know. Luckily, the interviewer asked the very same question: "The technical issues on PS3 and the way it was engineered didn't work," Yoshida confirmed. "It worked to some extent, that's why we had a date in mind."

"That was a mistake," Yoshida admitted to Eurogamer with regards to the predicted 2011 release, "but at one time it was looking possible. It has been totally re-engineered. They're still working on it. I've been seeing the progress."

So, hose us down with surprise, yet another major show and still no sign of The Last Guardian. Perhaps we'll see something of the game in 2015?

REVIEW. Written by Ricardo C. Esteves

"Unlike many game worlds, which seem to have been built to serve gameplay, the setting here feels organic and plausible."
