Uncross your fingers, because Bungie have revealed that progress made and characters created in the beta for Destiny will not carry over into the final game when it's released in September.

"Our Beta characters won't transfer to the final version of Destiny. The vaults have been cleaned out," the studio confirmed in a post.

By way of explanation, designer Tyson Green said: "Since the Beta, we've continued to tune and adjust the game. The way you earn experience has been adjusted up and down a bunch of times. Items have been added and removed. New features toggled. Although there's no single monumental change, the sum of the tweaks leaves characters from the Beta Build in strange shape that would be confusing at best, broken at worst."

With characters locked at level 8 for the beta, there's not massive amounts to redo when the game launches on September 9th on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3 and PS4.
