Gearbox Software used this weekend's PAX East to unveil artwork and details on Borderlands 2's newest class, the Mechromancer, as well as discuss character customisation.

The Mechromancer will be a female class character who'll remotely control a robot entitled the D374-TP (Deathtrap), details Game Informer, and will be free for those who pre-order the game, while pricing for everyone else will remain "comparable to most DLC."

As for release date, Randy Pitchford tweeted that the DLC should be finished 60-90 days after launch, and clarified the character would be free to those that pre-ordered and joined the game's Premier Club.

At the PAX East panel, the studio also discussed how custom heads, skins and clothing would be rewarded for completing challenges and missions in the game.

Borderlands 2 is due out September 21st.

"It's rare for drudgery to set in. And for a game of this size and style, what's even more surprising is that the word 'grind' never enters the lexicon."
