Kotaku are reporting that Sony owned Zipper Interactive, the creators of the Socom series and most recently of PS Vita's Unit 13, have had a major project cancelled and that the studio is in the process of being shut down.
Sony have been trimming away some of the development capacity lately, including the closure of Little Deviants developers BigBig, but even if Zipper Interactive are somewhat removed from their last major hit they have still put together decent games in the last few years. Remains to be seen exactly what the fallout is, with Sony refusing to comment on rumours for now.
