Activision has been busy counting cash ever since Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launched last week, but now they have taken the time to release some truly amazing numbers regarding the launch. According to Activision's internal estimates the game generated $550 million in sales during the first five days destroying all previous box office and video game sales records.

The game also broke several records online, with Microsoft reporting the following achievements on Xbox Live:
- More than 5.2 million multiplayer hours were logged playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on the first day alone.
- More than 2.2 million unique gamers played Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 in one day on November 10th. A new one-day record for Xbox Live.
- More than 11 million achievements were unlocked on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on the first day.
