Lead Producer John Airhart has said Dead Rising on PC feels like the best version of the game, and far from "just some port", during an interview at this year's E3.
"It's coming with those things that PC gamers have come to expect, like a lot of really nice graphical options," he told us. "Resolution that supports anything your monitor supports, different key bindings that you can customise, so it really feels like the best version of the game. It feels like a try PC version, and not just some port that we just sent out the door."
While the announcement of the game's DLC Super Ultra Dead Rising 3 Arcade Remix Hyper Edition EX Plus Alpha was a surprise to us ("there's no lans to bring it to PC right now," Airhart said), Microsoft's decision to release Xbox One controller drivers onto PC was a shock to him.
"This was a surprise to me. So I immediately downloaded them and tried them on the game, works beautiful, feels wonderful. But PC players are used to that really fast, responsive feel on the mouse, so when you're playing Dead Rising 3 you absolutely have that; you can turn and aim even faster than you could with a controller. That's something that keyboard and mouse gamers expect."
Along with confirming there'd also be no SmartGlass or Kinect support on the PC version which is due sometime this summer (both on Steam and as a retail version in Europe), Airhart got into the thinking behind that lengthily-named DLC.
"it started off as this little thing; ‘what can we do that's very Capcom themed, a love letter to Capcom fans?' And it just grew and grew as the team started putting their favourite bits of Capcom culture heritage into it."
