Destiny has only been out in the wild for two months, but already Bungie are working on the game's sequel, it has been confirmed today.

Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg told investors during a post-earnings financial call that: "Work has also begun on future expansion packs, as well as on our next full game release."

Elsewhere Activision Blizzard also confirmed today that Destiny has "more than 9.5 million registered users," which no doubt gives the publisher confidence to continue backing the franchise, despite the slightly mixed critical reception it received when it launched in September.

There's no word on when the sequel will launch, or what form it will take, but then Hirshberg also confirmed that work is underway on future expansion packs, the first of which - The Dark Below - is heading to PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on December 9.
