There were some rumours doing the rounds that The Last Guardian had been cancelled, but Sony has moved to quickly clarify that the long-awaited game from Team Ico was still in development.
The rumours started when IGN ran a story based on information from an alleged source at Sony Russia. Scott Rohde, head of software product development for Sony Worldwide Studios America, quickly poured scorn over these claims with the following Tweet: "I laughed at this rumor over dinner. The Last Guardian has NOT been cancelled."
The was then followed up by confirmation that the game is still in the works from the CEO of SCE America, Shawn Layden, who during an with Geoff Keighley confirmed as much. Keighley then Tweeted: "Just interviewed Shawn Layden, new CEO of SCEA. He says The Last Guardian is in full development in Japan. Unequivocally. Full intvu tmrw."
So, that's fairly conclusive; The Last Guardian is still in development. The question remains as to whether we're going to see the game on stage during Sony's press conference. Join us on Tuesday at 2am BST/3am CET to find out.
