German developers Crytek have announced that CryEngine 3 is finished and available for developers to license and use in their titles. The engine is the first engine from Crytek optimised for use of several platforms with PC (DX9/10), Playstation 3, Xbox 360 as well as MMO development supported.

With CryEngine 3 being the technological foundation of Crysis 2 we hope that this announcement signals that we'll hear more on Crysis 2 in the near future.

Here is a quote from the press release:

"With CryENGINE 3 we are releasing the best development solution available today and tomorrow. With its scalable graphics and computation it is next-gen ready and with new features like CryENGINE 3 Live Create the best choice for game developers and companies developing serious games applications alike. It is the only game engine solution that enables real-time development and can ensure teams are able to maximise their own creativity, save budget and create greater gaming experiences." said Cevat Yerli, CEO & President of Crytek.

REVIEW. Written by Petter Hegevall (Gamereactor Sweden)

"I place C4 on a car on top of a parking building, then make myself invisible. Kicking it off the roof, it lands on top of two armored vehicles below and I watch as the platoon catches fire."
