Developer CD Projekt RED has announced that, in the last year, they have sold over 1.5 million copies of The Witcher franchise games.

The most impressive seller from their portfolio is The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, a game currently being ported over to Xbox 360. The game has sold well digitally, with 24% of sales coming online.

The original game, The Witcher (2007) still managed to sell over 400,000 copies, despite being nearly five years old.

"We were all incredibly surprised by the number of copies sold. The Witcher 2 has garnered over 60 industry awards, and gamers seem to love it. I have to admit, though, that the sales results for The Witcher, 5 years on from the game's premier, are remarkable. If anything, they prove that the content we put into our games ages well. I think that The Witcher will continue to generate buzz in the coming years," said Adam Badowski, head of the CD Projekt RED studio.
