It turns out the trademark Square Enix registered, Sleeping Dogs, had nothing to do with a third Kane & Lynch title, instead it is the new title for True Crime: Hong Kong, that Activision cancelled and that was picked up by Square Enix last year.
The game follows undercover cop Wei Shen, who is on a mission to infiltrate and take down the Hong Kong triad. Much like previous True Crime titles Sleeping Dogs offers an open city to explore, and a lot of attention has been given to hand-to-hand combat and moves, not just shooting and driving.
Square Enix have issued four new screens and the game is in development at both the original studio United Front Games and Square Enix Lond Studios. It is now set for release in August on PC, Playstation 3, and Xbox 360.
