Electronic Arts has revealed that Star Wars: The Old Republic has had a successful start, with over 2 million units sold and as many as 1.7 million active users.

The numbers came from their third quarter financial results (where they also revealed nearly 10 million customers are now using Origin).

GamesIndustry.biz reported that influential American analysts Cowen and Baird Equity Research both agree that there are between 1.3 million and 1.5 million paying players, with the shortfall made up of players still enjoying their free one month subscription.

Analysts from Wedbush dissented, suggesting that the figures were much lower (between 0.9 and 1.2 million).

Even if the conservative estimates are accurate, these figures represent a positive start for EA, Bioware and Star Wars: The Old Republic.
