Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software have been busy, it would seem. Through parent company Activision, they have just announced the two new maps that make up the front line of the Modern Warfare 3 Content Season for Call of Duty Elite.

Subscribers to the Elite service will get first crack at the maps; the war-torn Central Park setting for Liberation and the twisting corners of Italian flavoured Piazza. Subscribers will also then get access to more content drops throughout the year, with at least one arriving every month.

For those who don't subscribe to the Elite service, worry not, the first Modern Warfare 3 Content Collection will be available for everyone to buy at some point in March.

Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing said: "With the Call of Duty: MW3 Content Season for Call of Duty Elite we are delivering on our promise of more new content, more often, and with more variety than ever. With three studios collaborating on the first season, the breadth and depth of material on tap is truly extraordinary."

The statement from Activision provides some details of what to expect from the new maps: "Liberation is a vast, militarised landscape, ripe for long-range sniper and LMG fire, with mounted turrets on either end that lend power to anyone brave enough to expose themselves in exchange for deadly firepower."

"Piazza is the idyllic Italian getaway that is anything but, where tight corners and branching pathways pose great risk at every turn. Close-range combat dominates in Piazza, where attacks from behind, above and below are an ever-constant threat."
