A collaboration between Bandai Namco and Viz Media will see Tenkai Knights: Brave Battle land on Nintendo 3DS in "Fall 2014".

The game, which follows in the footsteps of an already established merchandise line and cartoon show (in other regions, at least), stars 2D robots who can be customised and sent into battle.

The accompanying toys are interesting, in that they are very Lego-like, and according to a presentation that we witnessed, they work "with other construction bricks" - though how they'll have got around Lego's strict trademarks remains to be seen (if, indeed, they're talking about Lego).

"Our knowledge on anime based video-games has been proven over the past few years. Once again, we are teaming up with the best in order to take another license to the top," said Bandai Namco's Herve Hoerdt.

All the merchandise will make it into European stores later this year (September 2014), and a TV series produced by Spin Master will arrive on these shores around the same time.
