During a recent Q&A, CD Projekt Red's lead engine programmer, Balázs Török, offered us some insight into the technical workings of their hugely anticipated RPG, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

"Right now we are aiming at having 30 fps on the consoles," Török said when asked what kind of framerates console gamers could expect. "What we want to have is really a beautiful world. This game is more about immersing yourself in the world, and not about having the quick combat... This is an RPG and not a fighting game, to put it in simple terms."

When asked if it would be 60fps on PC, Török said: "It depends on your PC. It can be anything on PC."

During the same Q&A, Török confessed that there was still room for the game to grow on PC: "I think there's room in the PC for improvement... Maybe not right now, but the way we did this for The Witcher 2 was we had the Ultra mode... So if you go back to The Witcher 2 now you can actually enable this and play that with no problem. So we have a few features that are kind of like future-proofing the game, but the PCs are obviously moving much faster."

It was announced in March that The Witcher 3 had been delayed until February 2015, so there's still plenty of time to keep pushing the consoles (and PC) to the max. We can't wait to see what the next chapter of Geralt's story is going to look like.

"If this little sojourn to Toussaint is to be our final adventure with the silver-haired monster slayer, then it's a fitting conclusion."
