Arstechnica has done some impressive data mining on Steam and come up with a number of interesting factoids. Among these are the fact that roughly 37 percent of the 781 million games tied to Steam accounts have never been booted up even once. Clearly we're not the only ones picking up games in various sales and promotion, only to forget about them and never sample what they have to offer.

Another interesting factoid is that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 players have spent 6 times the time with multiplayer compared to the campaign, and that Dota 2 is the game that most Steam users have on their account (25.93 million). Naturally Valve games dominate the chart, as Half-Life 2 and it's many mods and addition were the foundation of the entire service.
