Økokrim (the Norwegian National authority for Investigation and Prosecution of Economic and Environmental Crime) has, according to a report on NewsWeb, charged MMO developers Funcom with suspicion of infringement of the Securities Trading Act.

Allegedly there's doubt over the information that studio providing the market regarding their MMO, The Secret World, between August 2011 and July 2012 (and then the two months following launch).

The company are said to be fully cooperating with Økokrim on the matter, but it is suspected that The Secret World developer "has not maintained the required log of information within the company" during the aforementioned window of time.

This report from NewsWeb comes hot on the heels of news that Funcom employees were sent home from work today. E24 states that Norway's Economic Crime unit arrived at the company's office this morning and began investigating the situation, and that the company's stock had been paused on the Oslo Stock Exchange.

It's been a difficult time for Funcom since the launch of their MMO. After lower than expected turnover following its release, staff were let go and the MMO was forced to change subscription models.
