In an AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit that took place following the announcement that four MMOs would be shut down this year, SOE president John Smedley dropped a huge hint that something significant was in the works at the studio.
When asked which game Sony Online Entertainment would relaunch if they could, and what they would do differently, Smedly mentioned Star Wars Galaxies (SWG): "SWG. I would do everything differently. SWG PLAYERS - OUR NEXT GAME (not announced yet) IS DEDICATED TO YOU. Once we launch it... you can come home now."
Star Wars Galaxies was launched in 2003 and was shut down by SOE in December 2011. There were plenty of disappointed fans after the game's servers closed down, so there'll be many interested in hearing more about this unannounced MMO from Sony Online Entertainment. What we do know is that the new game will not be a Star Wars title ("completely new IP. The data is on the interwebs.. someone just has to find it."). More details when we have them.
