With the new generation of consoles already on us, and with Dark Souls II set to launch on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in just a matter of weeks, it's obvious that there's interest in whether the game will make it to next-gen consoles, or remain on the current platforms.

In a recent interview with Edge, Yiu Tanimura recently confessed that the studio hadn't thought about a possible port yet, but, importantly, didn't rule out the hardcore RPG making the leap to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in the future.

"We have not put any thought into this yet, so I unfortunately can't answer at this point," said Tanimura when asked what it would take to bring the PC version of Dark Souls II to PS4 of Xbox One. That means we can still keep our fingers crossed.

A new trailer for Dark Souls II was released last week, alongside a decent selection of screenshots. The game is due out on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on March 14.

Dark Souls II

REVIEW. Written by Philip Lauritz Poulsen

"The game has lost none of its relentless difficulty, and the many improvements make it a great experience for veterans and newcomers. But it may not be for everybody."
