Anarchy Reigns, the multiplayer brawler developed by Platinum Games and published by Sega, has reportedly pushed back to July next year.

That's the report from VG247, who quotes Sega West senior VP of marketing Gary Knight, who's said of the delay: "Anarchy Reigns brings a new take to the brawler genre and we've decided to take a little more time to deliver the full knockout punch."

Knight references the expansive scale of the game for the push back, saying that "I can't reveal much now, but it's something to do with scale. Let's just say traditional one on one or two versus two fighters will be a thing of the past."

Given the title's huge arenas and multiple characters -some reappearing fighters from other Platinum Games - have been demoed extensively throughout the year already, the phrasing suggests the studio has decided to overhaul the two-player co-op for a team-based structure.

Speculation aside, we'll have some time to wait to find out. For now, check out our interview about the game at E3 this year.

REVIEW. Written by Viktor Eriksson

There's a focus on playability, salvaging long-forgotten ideas and outfitting them in new designs. A heritage that recalls smoky arcade halls of old."
