DayZ out now on Steam

There's plenty of zombie fans out there who'll be utterly delighted to hear that DayZ is now available to buy via Steam Early Access.

The alpha version of the long-anticipated standalone build of the Arma 2 mod is available to intrepid zombie survivalists for £19.99. The Steam page warns players that the game isn't finished yet, and that early adopters will be involved in shaping the game, not playing a polished final version.

At the end of the day it's a warning that's not likely to deter gamers who've been looking forward to the game's release, as the the Arma 2 mod that started it all was notoriously buggy and unstable. Plus the chance to help shape the game's development will be too tempting for many to resist.

"DayZ Early Access is your chance to experience DayZ as it evolves throughout its development process," reads the notice on the Early Access page. "Be aware that our Early Access offer is a representation of our core pillars, and the framework we have created around them. It is a work in progress and therefore contains a variety of bugs. We strongly advise you not to buy and play the game at this stage unless you clearly understand what Early Access means and are interested in participating in the ongoing development cycle."
