Bastion

Much like Outland, Bastion appeals to our retro tastes, without ever feeling old or aged. Stunning visuals and a remarkably inventive soundscape keep us on our toes throughout the dungeon crawler of sorts. Instead of relying on stats and forcing the player to mindlessly press buttons, Bastion forces the player to actively use weapons and skills to progress. It adds a twist to the dungeon crawl concept, while adding a well told and interesting story that keeps your interest high through the (by digital standards) sizeable adventure.

Greg Kasavin, Creative Director, Supergiant Games: "It's an honor to see Bastion called the best digital release of 2011. This was our first game as a seven-person team based in the living room of a house and we did our best to make something that could leave a lasting positive impression. We're very grateful to our families and friends for their patience and support during development, and to everyone out there who decided to take a chance on an unheard-of game from a new studio."
