Following on from the recent news about the Team Dignitas acquisition, it seems another major Esports team have been purchased. This time the buyers are aXiomatic Esports, a brand new company set up by Peter Guber and Ted Leonsis; both of whom are owners of professional North American sports teams. Guber is the co-owner of the Golden State Warriors, an NBA team and well as baseball team LA Dodgers to name a couple of his endeavours, and Leonsis owns the Washington Capitals in the NHL as well as the NBA outfit Washington Wizards. The new company has a whole host of investors including basketball legend Magic Johnson.

According to the announcement, Steve Arhancet and Victor Goossens will remain the Co-CEOs of Team Liquid, as well as being the directors. Guber and Leonsis will serve as the Co-Executive Chairmen for their new organisation aXiomatic. This means that the management for Team Liquid hasn't changed, but they are now underneath a 'parent' company who will presumably make marketing or investment decisions.

Once again, this is big news for both Team Liquid and the esports industry as a whole, which we are seeing gaining more interest and respect from mainstream audiences by the day. What are your thoughts on the acquisition? Do you think it's a good or bad thing that big names are taking note of the potential of esports?
