Top 5 Star Wars Games I've Played...(so far)

Ever since Disney acquired the rights to the Star Wars universe, fans from all over the world rejoiced. Not only did this mean that we get to see a continuation of the beloved saga, but also an even more expanded gaming world in the series. Games like Star Wars Battlefront have undergone reboots, and there's even a standalone Star Wars movie that's coming out this year. With this rekindling of the Star Wars fare, a slew of mobile games related to the universe have also come out. Here's our top 5 picks, in no particular order:

1. Star Wars Commander: Worlds in Conflict

With popular real-time strategy games like Clash of Clans and Game of War, it was only a matter of time before Star Wars also had their own version. In Commander, you get to build and defend a base, manage your resources, train troops, and then unleash mayhem against online enemies. In true Star Wars fashion, you get to choose to side with either the Rebellion or the Empire. Your main goal is to build an army strong enough to destroy your opponents in time-based missions, which awards you with trophies. Keep in mind, though, that you should also focus on your own base's defense, to avoid logging in the game only to find that you were beaten by other players when you were busy playing Battlefront.

2. Star Wars: Uprising

Probably the most popular title on this list, Star Wars: Uprising has more of RPG elements than the other games. You start out with choosing your character from an array of species, and you can even customize how you look. Missions include dungeon crawling, which is more typical in an RPG game, and loot collection. What sets it apart from other games are the Sector Battles, where you can unlock new locations and even more gear by increasing a planet's freedom rating, and Crew Runs, where you can maintain a crew with different skill sets to run missions and get extra gear, resources, and currency. Teamwork is emphasized in Uprising, a very welcome addition in a slew of games that tend to get boring quickly these days.

3. Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes

If you enjoyed The Walking Dead No Man's Land game, then you're in for an even better surprise with Galaxy of Heroes. While the graphics and gameplay might seem simple, you'll find yourself playing this game non-stop. A card game at its core, Galaxy of Heroes focuses on turn-based combat, pitting you against the many evils of the Star Wars universe. You level up your characters to obtain new and better skills, and you can even control fan-favorites like Han Solo, Yoda and Leia Organa! The typical grinding for better gear is present, and that's always a good thing. Some of them complement each other and some don't, so you have to mix and match different characters according to what suits the fights best.

4. Star Wars: Galactic Defense

Tower defense games never seem to go away, and Star Wars, of course, has its own version. The gameplay is simple enough: you put different towers in places on the map, and a steady barrage of enemies try to traverse and your towers have to kill them all, or else you lose the game. Each tower has multiple upgrade paths, so you're not stuck with a tower that does the same thing over and over again. The enemy units also vary, with some being easier to kill than others, making this a game of careful planning to utilize the towers that you have on hand. While that sounds pretty standard, you do have the option of using heroes that come with their own special abilities to aid you in the game. From Luke Skywalker to Han Solo, the game promises hours upon hours of tower-building and upgrading fun!

5. LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga

You knew this would be on the list. Easily one of the most popular LEGO games not only for mobile devices but anywhere, LEGO Star Wars is exactly what you think it is: all your favorite Star Wars characters, vehicles, and even environment are all LEGO-fied. You can start from the original saga all the way to Revenge of the Sith, and vice-versa. What makes this game so great is that it allows you access to a lot of the different characters from the universe, and the unlocks and collectibles are nearly-infinite. It's Star Wars meets LEGO for a very interesting and fun result.
